 COMMUNITY SUPPORT / (pp. 12-13) A Children’s Center
in Tekirdağ
The Mika-Der Association’s children support center was opened in Kapaklı, Tekirdağ in March 2018, where Yıldız Entegre is a sponsor of one of the hobby rooms. In the center, 40 children between the ages of 7 and 18, who are under the auspices of Directorate General of Child Services of The Turkish Ministry of Family and Social Policy, who suffer from past life traumas and have a tendency towards crime, will be rehabilitated and revived.
Mika-Der Children Support Center is located on an area of 12 thousand squaremeters of a total land of 32 thousand squaremeters. The center consists of 4 two-storey buildings which accommodate 10 children each, an administrative building and a playground. In the interview with Nesrin Ercan, Chairman of the Board of Mika-Der Association, for Yıldız’da Yaşam thanked Yıldız Entegre for its support, and explained that the children will study in these hobby rooms. Ercan also underlined how Yıldız Entegre sets a precedent for other companies by providing support to this worthy cause: “In addition to its financial aspect of the sponsorship, it is quite important that a company act as a precedent for the others by the way so.”

A Trip to Kütahya for the Project “From Field-to-Table”
The Project “From Field-to-Table”, initiated by İGSAŞ to raise awareness in order to increase efficiency of the farmers who cultivate according to traditional methods, to get high quality yield and to ensure sustainability in soil as well as to make soil map at some specific points and conduct researches on development of special fertilizers,
is going on at full steam. A press trip was organized on September 10 to Adaköy in Kütahya district, where the project’s current phase was executed, to keep the press up- to-date. To compare, in the field where İGSAŞ’s project was carried out, 30% less input of labor, water and energy and fertilizer were used to produce 40% more output. Hikmet Güleç, Agricultural Engineer from the Directorate General of Plant Production, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, who took also part in the press trip, stated that they consider this social responsibility project initiated by İGSAŞ to be very valuable.

We made an interview with Hüseyin Gelis, Chairman and CEO of Siemens Turkey, on Industry 4.0 revolution, Siemens’ operations in Turkey concerning this matter, its digitalization skills and cooperation with Yıldızlar Yatırım Holding. Hüseyin Gelis explained that Yıldızlar Yatırım Holding and Siemens have
a long-standing business relationship for many years based on a mutual trust. Mr. Gelis summarized the cooperation between the two companies as follows: “We can list our subjects of activity as electrification, automation and digitalization. These activities are carried out not only within our country but also abroad. We are working with Yıldızlar Yatırım Holding on a business partnership philosophy throughout the entire life cycle of the plants. We efficiently maintain our cooperation in all phases from the designing to installing of a plant, from putting into service to running and updating a facility.”

On İ Saloni Milano Furniture Fair

ıldız Entegre organized a trip to Italy to İ Saloni Milano Furniture Fair between the dates April 17-
21. The participants of the trip consisted of a group of 55 people including prominent architects and designers who revealed their impressions on the fair to Yıldız’da Yaşam:
Cenkay Çakır (Cenkay Çakır Design Office): Some of the most striking items at the fair were the combinations made with different materials, the harmony and elegance of metal and marble, black and gold.
Esra Erkutun (Monest Architecture): I believe that Yıldız Entegre’s “register emboss” surfaces, we consider as natural-looking, will be very popular.
Fatih Bayramlar (Batu Design): Concrete themed designs and surfaces which are usually popular for the kitchen, were to be used for the whole living spaces.
Heves Beşeli (Motto Architecture): The most attractive structures in Porta Nuova Region were Bosco Vertical towers with the axial forest concept.
Murat Kahraman (Artcadde): Common use of walnut or smudgy quercitron tones with metal sheet emphasize the naturalness.
Tuna Aysel (Tuna Aysel Design): With the effect of the Design Week coinciding with the furniture fair, this trip contributed to our design culture and vision.

‘Yıldız Demir Çelik is our biggest supplier’
e visited Mehmet Katırcıoğlu, Managing Director of Katırcıoğlu Demir Çelik, and talked about
the cooperation of its company with Yıldız Demir Çelik. Established in the 1960s, Katırcıoğlu Demir Çelik operates in Kayseri and Gebze. Mr. Katırcıoğlu described us the company’s operations as follows: “We manufacture 30 tons per day in our deck and corrugated sheet manufacturing lines and 150 tons per day in our slitting line. Yıldız Demir Çelik has become our biggest supplier. We have been using Yıldız Demir Çelik’s products for the past six months. Considering how big the investment is, Yıldız Demir Çelik, operating in the flat sheet industry, will be indispensable for our country.”
